Five Years of Tidewater: Independent, but Not Alone

Five Years of Tidewater: Independent, but Not Alone

October 13, 2026

This October 2026, Tidewater Wealth Management turns five. We wanted to mark the moment the way we would with a client: by looking back at where we started, saying thank you, and sharing what we are looking forward to.

Tidewater began with a simple idea. After many years at TIAA, we saw how much more people could get from an advisor who had the time to know them and the freedom to plan around their whole lives. So we built a small firm, with offices in New Haven and West Hartford, focused on retirees, pre-retirees, and professionals in higher education and academic medicine. We believed financial advice should begin with understanding the people behind the numbers, and that belief has guided us ever since.

If you asked us to describe the firm in four words, they would be these: independent, but not alone. Our independence gives us the freedom to tailor advice to each client's goals, circumstances, and family, with the financial plan coming first. And we do that work alongside established industry partners, including NewEdge Advisors, TIAA, Schwab, and Fidelity, so that personal attention and institutional resources work together. Our clients get the attention of a small firm and the depth of a much larger one.

The part we treasure most

What we have valued most over these five years are the conversations. Yes, we talk about markets and taxes. But we also talk about children and grandchildren, the trip someone has been waiting years to take, and what a good retirement actually looks like for them. Those conversations are the heart of our work, because a financial plan matters most when it helps you enjoy today, prepare for tomorrow, and take care of the people you love.

They also shape how we spend the year together. We plan ahead as the year begins, look at the tax return in the spring, step back for a full review in the summer, and turn to year-end details in the fall. No two households follow it exactly the same way, but returning to the plan regularly keeps it current as life changes.

Thank you

To our clients, thank you for your trust, your introductions, and the opportunity to support your families. To our partners and the professionals who work alongside us, thank you for helping us do this work well. Your confidence has made these five years possible.

If you are just getting to know us and wondering whether your financial decisions fit together, we would be glad to talk about what matters to you and how we might help.

Here's to the next five years, and all the milestones still to come.
