About Tim
Tim O’Shea is a founding partner and senior wealth management advisor at Tidewater Wealth Management, with more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry as a financial advisor and portfolio manager. He serves individuals in the education, nonprofit, research, and medical fields, as well as small business owners navigating the financial complexities of ownership and succession.
Before co-founding Tidewater Wealth Management, Tim spent 15 years as a Wealth Management Advisor at TIAA-CREF, where he developed deep expertise in the specific financial needs and benefit structures of clients in higher education, nonprofit institutions, and academic medicine. That experience continues to define his client focus at Tidewater today.
Tim’s Approach
Tim takes a needs-based approach to financial planning. Every client relationship begins with a thorough conversation about where you are, where you want to be, and what financial and personal goals matter most to you. From that foundation, he builds a plan crafted specifically to meet those goals — not a template applied to your situation.
Once a plan is in place, Tim applies a disciplined approach to maintaining specific risk levels in client portfolios — keeping investments aligned with each client’s goals through the natural changes that come with life. From building toward retirement to generating sustainable income in retirement, and from legacy planning to philanthropic objectives, his focus is always on what matters most to the client.
